Barceló opens its first European hotel in Madrid under another brand name

Former Holiday Inn Madrid becomes the first Canopy by Hilton in Spain.

The former Holiday Inn Madrid Bernabéu, now Canopy by Hilton Madrid Castellana, will open in the capital and will be managed by Barceló Hotel Group, for the first time in Europe with a third-party brand, although it has experience with this model.

Through Hotel Investment Partners (HIP), Hilton is introducing its high-end lifestyle brand, Canopy by Hilton, in Spain. HIP, Europe's third-largest hotel investor, owns the property.

The hotel has 314 rooms and 12 meeting rooms, with its interior design by Jaime Beriestain.

Its gastronomic offer includes a restaurant with a terrace and views of Plaza Carlos Trias Bertrán, as well as a café in the lobby, characteristic of the firm and called Canopy Central.

Barceló thus manages the HIP-owned hotel under the Hilton franchise formula.

The new Madrid hotel is one of three European openings for the Canopy by Hilton brand this year, following the summer opening of Canopy by Hilton Paris Trocadero, and the upcoming opening of Canopy by Hilton London City.
