
The Spanish hotel group announced the opening of its second property at the destination, the Barceló Tiran Sharm on the shores of the Red Sea.
The result of a management contract between Barceló and the Egyptian Tower Group, the Barceló Tiran Sharm will open in the beach resort of Sharm-El-Sheik. Positioned on the five-star segment the property has 345 rooms, five bars, a wellness center and a spa, three outdoor swimming pools and one indoors, as well as three restaurants.
"Everything suggests that the situation in Egypt is returning to normal and its tourism is on the road to recovery, particularly as far as concerns the city of Sharm-El-Sheik, which has been one of European tourists' favorite destinations, especially for German and British travelers. Forecasts for the winer are already very good," declared José Canals, regional director Balearics and Mediterranean Barceló Hotels & Resorts.
On January 1, 2014, Barceló Hotels & Resorts ranked 31st worldwide in terms of number of rooms according to the classification realized each year by MKG Hospitality, hospitality consulting firm founded by Georges Panayotis. It had an international network of 100 hotels and 31,668 rooms. (read our report)
