Accor is celebrating the opening of its 400th hotel in South America with the inauguration of the Sofitel Barú Calablanca Beach Resort in Colombia. It also announced the strengthening of its Accor South America Executive Committee, which leads the strategy in the region with representatives from different areas of the company.
The project was developed through a strategic alliance with the Argos Group, owner of the land and development partner, Arquitectura y Concreto, manager and builder, and Pei, the largest real estate investment fund in Colombia.
This special group of Colombian investors and entrepreneurs saw in Baru a potential to develop luxury tourism in the region with an avant-garde, responsible and unique proposal, hand in hand with Accor's operation.
Abel Castro, senior VP of New Business Development Accor South America
With 14 new hotels in Brazil and six in the Hispanic countries of South America, Accor has closed the year 2021.
The completion of new business during this period makes the group optimistic about developing future projects in the region.
"This year we were able to sign 11 new contracts, which represents the addition of 1,615 rooms to our portfolio, 80% of which are franchises. In this way, Accor is not only accelerating its expansion plan, but also reinforcing its goal of reaching 42,000 franchised hotel rooms by 2024," Abel Castro said.
The hotel is located 25 minutes by boat from the city of Cartagena. It has 10 buildings with 187 rooms, including 22 suites and a presidential suite, all with balconies and terraces overlooking the sea.
