The group has just signed the total renovation of the historic Carton House, located near Dublin, in order to reinforce the expansion of the brand throughout the United Kingdom and Ireland. In partnership with an American investor in luxury real estate, the hotel will now operate under the Fairmont brand.
As far as the new address is concerned, Carton House was built in 1739 and belonged to the FitzGerald family, one of the most influential families in Irish history. The property, which is currently undergoing a complete refurbishment for an expected opening by the end of 2020, will be the first Fairmont branded hotel in Ireland and the fourth in the UK and Ireland, joining the Savoy in London, the Fairmont St Andrews in Scotland and the recently announced Fairmont Windsor Park, which is also expected to open by the end of 2020.
The refurbished Fairmont Carton House aims to become one of Ireland's premier luxury golf and spa resorts and will offer 170 rooms and suites, two 18-hole championship golf courses, wellness facilities and 1,000 m² of conference and event space. The hotel will also feature a lobby bar and three restaurants including The Carriage House Golf Club restaurant and a speciality restaurant in the Manor House.
Commenting on the location of the new facility, Marc Dardenne, Managing Director of Luxury Brands, Accor Europe, said :
Fairmont was established over 100 years ago, in 1907, and throughout this time has played an important role in cementing the locations where its hotels are based as key destinations for visitors. Luxury travel experiences should focus on delivering fantastic, second-to-none service which embodies the heart of the destination, so visitors feel they are staying somewhere unique. Fairmont Carton House will do just that, whether guests are visiting for the golf resort, spa or hotel.
The appointed architects and interior designers are based in Dublin, working with Accor's luxury design and technical services team.
As announced in Hospitality ON's 2020 Hotel Group Ranking, the Accor group is positioned as the leading hotel group present in Europe (305,595 keys) and France (147,940 rooms).
