AC Hotel New Orleans Bourbon

The Spanish brand has entered Marriott's fold and has announced the opening of its first property in the United States, in New Orleans.

Marriott International announced the opening of the first premier AC hotel by Marriott in North America. Developed with the Texan firm Newcrestimage through a franchise contract, AC Hotel New Orleans Bourbon has opened its doors in the Louisiana city with 220 rooms. Meeting the brand's lifestyle standards, the property will be in the former cotton exchange building dating from 1871 that is a National Historic Landmark.

The new hotel brings the Spanish brand across the Atlantic. Founded in 1998 by the Spanish hotelier Antonio Catalan, it is part of a joint-venture with the American group Marriott International since 2011. With its new American address, the brand now has an international portfolio of 75 hotels and is also present in Spain, Italy, Portugal and France. Marriott plans to pursue growth on the American market with initial projects in Kansas City, Miami Beach. A total of 50 properties should open their doors in the United States and Latin America in the next three years.

On January 1, 2014, Marriott International was the third hotel group worldwide in terms of number of rooms, according to the ranking realized each year by MKG Hospitality, hospitality consulting firm founded by Georges Panayotis. It had 653,719 rooms in 3,783 hotels. (read our report)
