12.18. Group and Kempinski Hotels AG entered a strategic partnership to create a new luxury product to leverage the investment and management power of one and the global reach of the latter to expand them both into new territories in terms of range and globally.
Kempinski Hotels S.A. – Europe’s oldest luxury hotel group – has partnered with Düsseldorf-based 12.18. Group – creator of 7Pines Ibiza – to develop the luxury lifestyle concept 7Pines Kempinski. With 78 hotels in 34 countries, it made this announcement following that for a new luxury project in Makkah, Saudi Arabia, for 2023, which will complement the Al Madina property scheduled to open in 2022.
Jörg Lindner and Kai Richter, Managing Partners of 12.18. Investment Management, together with Martin R. Smura, Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Board of Kempinski Hotels, announced together this strategic alliance, as Kempinski is moving its head office from Munich to Berlin and expects to grow up to 100 hotels during the next two years.
The 12.18. Group is a high-class investments expert in the hotel and holiday real estate sector, and thus offers investment, development, hotel and restaurant modernization, and hotel management skills from a single source. The company's flagship is the 7Pines Resort on the west coast of Ibiza, which opened last year after its purchase in 2015; a second property is under renovation in Sardinia on the Costa Smeralda.
7Pines Hotel Management Gmbh is based in Düsseldorf. In addition to Kai Richter, Markus Lück, General Manager of the 7Pines Resort Ibiza, will act as Managing Director. Thanks to this partnership, the 7Pines properties will benefit from the international network and extensive distribution channels of Kempinski Hotels.
12.18. is also expanding its portfolio outside Europe for the first time with the acquisition of the San Carlos Hotel in New York City, which, after renovations, will operate as the 7Pines Kempinski Manhattan. Lindner remarks that "The acquisition of the first property in the US represents a milestone in our company's history." Through this partnership, "Kempinski is now represented in New York and at the heart of Manhattan," declares Smura.
With the development of the brand 7Pines Kempinski, 12.18. plans to grow by 20 new hotels and resorts within 2022 and, in cooperation with institutional investors, place 500 million euros in investment capital.
