12 new properties for Meliá in Viet Nam

Partnering with Vinpearl the Spanish company is now the second brand in the Vietnamese hospitality market.

The 12 properties are already on the market and will be transferred to the 5 stars Meliá Vinpearl new brand. The company already operated 6 properties across the country and had 6 projects in the pipeline. With this new agreement, the group will manage close to 6,900 rooms in Viet Nam within the next few years. It has come a long way since its forts opening in 1990 with Meliá Hanoi.

The Meliá Vinpearl Quang Binh will be the first to open in March under the new brand on the coastline area of Phong Nha in the national park Ke Bang. It will be followed in May by another opening in Hue. The whole 12 locations will be open by the end of 2022.

Gabriel Escarrer, Executive Vice Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, commented on this partnership: “In our international development, we rely on local company with deep connection with the destination. It is the case if Vinpearl whose portfolio of hotels included in the agreement undoubtedly reinforce our already deep roots in Vietnam."

Mr. Thai Thanh Nhat Quang, CEO of Vinpearl Hotel, assured that "collaborating with international partners in the management of our hotels will make it easier for Vinpearl to join the world-renowned and recognized hotel networks and contribute to raising the level of Vietnamese tourism."

For the Spanish group, South-east Asia is an important market to develop new properties with around 20 properties open in the area and as many in the pipeline.

The company intends to implement sustainable management in these 12 new locations aligned with its goal as a sustainable brand.
