Wyndham shifts into second gear in South Korea

The hotel group began to develop 26 hotels in 2014, including 17 Ramada, six Days Inn and three Howard Johnson properties.

Wyndham Hotel Group is accelerating growth in South Korea. The hotel group plans to increase its portfolio there by 200% over the next three years, and is giving itself the means to do so.

After signing franchise contracts for 14 new properties in the country in 2014, Wyndham Hotel Group has just announced the development of 12 additional properties. Representing some 7,550 rooms, the 26 hotels in this pipeline will be operated under the Ramada (17 properties under development), Days Inn (6) and Howard Johnson (3) brands. They will be located in cities such as Seoul, Pyeongtaek and the Jeju Island and should open their doors by 2018. They are all new constructions.

Wyndham Hotel Group currently has a network of 13 properties operating in South Korea, for more than 2,800 rooms. As of January 1, Wyndham Hotel Group ranked fourth hotel group worldwide in terms of number of rooms with 660,826 units in 7,645 properties according to MKG Hospitality, consulting firm founded by Georges Panayotis.
