Wyndham Hotel Group's Ramada brand forges eastward in Canada

Wyndham Hotel Group announces plans to develop 20 new Ramada units in Canada's eastern provinces in partnership with Canalta Hotels.

Wyndham announced an agreement with Canalta Hotels to expand its North-American portfolio by growing Ramada's Canadian footprint. After opening 39 hotels of the brand in the market in the last 12 years, the operator aims to develop 20 additional units over the next 15 years. The hotel group already boasts a strong presence in Canada's western provinces, and the country remains its second most significant market after the United States. The new anticipated addresses will be located throughout Labrador, Newfoundland, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Ontario, Prince Edward Island and Quebec.

Wyndham Hotel Group currently operates 71 properties in Canada under the Ramada brand, including 27 in Alberta and 21 in British Columbia. According to data published by MKG Consulting, it ranked as the fourth hotel operator worldwide in terms of rooms as of January 2016, with 678 042 rooms in 7 812 hotels.
