Tryp by Wyndham enters the Philippines

A minimum of eight hotels to enter the market within 10 years under new agreement

Wyndham Hotel Group has entered into a franchise agreement to introduce its select-service lifestyle hotel brand, Tryp by Wyndham, to the Philippines.

Under the terms of the agreement with master franchisee Microtel Inns & Suites (Pilipinas) Inc., at least eight Tryp by Wyndham hotels will be developed in the country over 10 years, with the first property expected to open at the Mall of Asia in Pasay City in 2016. With this agreement, the Philippines becomes the first country in Southeast Asia to welcome the Tryp by Wyndham brand.

Microtel Inns & Suites (Pilipinas) Inc. is already the Master Franchisee in the Philippines for Wyndham Hotel Group's Microtel Inn & Suites by Wyndham brand and has opened 13 hotels since introducing the brand to the country in 2001. Wyndham Hotel Group currently has 19 hotels open and operating in the Philippines under its Days Inn, Ramada and Microtel brand names.

On January 1, 2015, Wyndham Hotel Group was the fourth group worldwide, according to the ranking produced each year by MKG Hospitality, consulting firm founded by Georges Panayotis. The group had 7,485 hotels and 660,826 rooms worldwide. (Read our report)
