Starwood opened 43 hotels in North-America during 2015

At the 2016 American Lodging Investment Summit in Los Angeles, the company announced it surpassed the 600th property milestone with 43 new openings, nearly double the number of the previous year.

The American hospitality group also announced its 5th consecutive year of increased signings with 92 new hotel deals in 2015, a 44% increase over the previous year. "North America remains an extremely important market for the company, with 55% of our existing portfolio and one third of our global pipeline, and we see continued growth momentum across all of our brands in 2016," said Simon Turner, President of Global Development for Starwood Hotels & Resorts.

Starwood's Aloft remains one of the group's fastest growing hotel brands with ten openings in 2015 and nine more slated for 2016 in North America. Element Hotels opened five new adresses in 2015 and is expected to open more than twenty hotels across the U.S. and Canada by year end 2018.
