Starwood Hotels & Resorts opens its 10th hotel in Turkey

The Sheraton Adana Hotel bolsters the portfolio of the Starwood Hotels & Resorts brand on the Turkish market, where it wishes to pursue its development over the next few years.

Developed by the Starwood Hotels & Resorts group, Serka Turizm A.S. and Adali Holding Company, the Sheraton Adana Hotel opened its doors in the fifth largest city in Turkey. Located on the banks of the Seyhan River, the property has 240 rooms, including 18 suites. It will be managed through a franchise contract.

The Sheraton Adana Hotel bolsters the presence of the Starwood Hotels & Resorts group on the Turkish market increasing its number of properties to the symbolic figure of 10 hotels operating in the destination, four of which are located in the city of Istanbul: the Sheraton Istanbul Maslak Hotel, the Sheraton Istanbul Atakoy Hotel, the W Istanbul, and Le Méridien Istanbul Etiler.

Turkey remains a priority market for the hotel group which plans to develop other properties there in the years to come. It should thus enter the city of Samsun with its brand Sheraton, and grow its presence in the city of Istanbul with the Sheraton Istanbul Atasehir which is scheduled to open in 2015.

On January 1, 2014, Starwood Hotels & Resorts was the seventh largest hotel group worldwide in terms of number of rooms, according to the ranking produced each year by MKG Hospitality, consulting firm founded by Georges Panayotis. It had 339,243 rooms in 1,161 hotels.
