The signing of a management agreement adds two properties - the Radisson Blu Hotel Al Hidaya and Park Inn by Radisson Hotel Al Hajla - to the group's portfolio.
The first one, located in the Aziziyah district, offers 1,250 rooms and will be part of the huge Al Hidaya Complex which already has ten buildings. Two of the complex's towers will be converted to the Radisson Blu brand and will open respectively in May 2018 for the first tower (588 rooms) and in May 2019 for the second one (663 rooms). The remaining rooms situated on the complex will also be operated by Rezidor.
The second property to enter the group's portfolio is the Park Inn by Radisson Hotel Al Hajla, whose location nearby the Great Mosque of Mecca makes it a privileged spot for religious tourism.
Each of these properties will be the largest hotel under its respective brand: this achievement is welcomed by Elie Younes, Executive Vice President & Chief Development Officer of Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group, who stated: "We are thrilled to cement our position as one of the leading operators in the holy city." Selman Al Fares, CEO, Al Majd Al Arabiah, added: “We anticipate the continued growth of religious tourism to the Kingdom and the Holy City of Makkah in its role as an Islamic cultural centre for local and international travelers.”
The Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group reinforces its position in Saudi Arabia, where it already operates 35 properties and more than 9,000 rooms to this day. It aims at managing a portfolio of 100 hotels in the Middle East by 2020. On a side note, on January 1, 2016, Carlson Rezidor ranked 11th among hospitality groups worldwide with a portfolio of 1,145 properties, hence 182,521 rooms according to data published by Hospitality ON.
