The Ritz Carlton settles in the Maldives with a complex of 100 overwater villas

Marriott's Ritz Carlton luxury hotel brand opened The Ritz-Carlton Maldives, Fair Islands, a new property on the northeastern tip of North Malé Atoll in June and its first foray into this exclusive Indian Ocean destination, southwest of Sri Lanka and India.

The new Ritz-Carlton luxury resort is designed around 100 one- to three-bedroom overwater and beachfront villas, forming a circle with a spa at its center.

Each room is immersed in the sea, with ocean views, direct access to the fine white sand beach and turquoise sea, a private infinity pool, sundeck and personal butler.

The resort is open to family tourism and is 45 minutes by boat or 10 minutes by seaplane from the Maldives International Airport.

Seven bars and specialized international restaurants provide dining and entertainment, as well as natural areas and picnic spots on the three islands that make up the archipelago immediately adjacent to the resort, easily accessible by traditional boats.

We have long wanted to expand the Ritz-Carlton brand in this iconic luxury destination and are thrilled to evolve our global portfolio with this significant launch. From its thoughtful architecture to its culturally immersive programming, this resort represents the brand's commitment to the innovative experiences sought by today's luxury traveler.

The resort will welcome children through the Ritz Kids program, with a teen program that includes classes with drone cinematographers. It also offers scuba diving upon request for guests.
