The dean of the American groups recorded another strong growth in 2019: +5.4%, or 3,524 additional rooms.

The hotelier that ages like a fine wine continues to expand its European portfolio to 325 properties across the continent, for a total of nearly 70,000 rooms.
Several European markets have been the subject of major investments. First of all, there is France. The group's ambition is to double the number of hotels by 2019 and even triple it by 2020, according to Richard Cuello - Regional Director for France and Managing Director, Hilton Evian les Bains (interview in French). The latter explained that the group had until now "a very stable portfolio" at the beginning of 2019, i.e. exactly 12 hotels, and that it was aiming for "20 to 22 properties by the end of the year and 28 to 30 by the end of 2020".
French openings in 2019 included the Hilton Garden Inn Massy (156 rooms) and the Hampton by Hilton Paris Clichy (156 rooms), and those in 2020 a Hilton Garden Inn in Nice (120 rooms) and a Hilton Tour Eiffel (118 rooms). The Tapestry Collection by Hilton brand will also soon make its debut in Paris, through the Belgrand Hôtel Paris Champs-Élysées (46 rooms) in the first quarter of 2020.
Hilton has also focused on the German market by announcing a development plan for the next four years, with the goal of increasing from 17 hotels in 2019 to 42 properties (representing more than 10,000 rooms) by 2023. The 2020 pipeline includes six Hampton by Hilton hotels.
The luxury segment has also driven growth with 11 new properties in 2019, including a hotel on the Old Continent: The Biltmore, Mayfair in London, under the LXR banner.
