New rooms at Grand Hyatt Cannes Hotel revealed for the Cannes Film Festival

For the 70th edition of the Cannes Film Festival in southern France, the luxury boutique hotel offers itself a facelift.

As the city of Cannes rolled out the red carpet to welcome international cinema stars, the legendary Grand Hyatt Cannes Hotel revealed brand new rooms last week. The renovation works, which started last November, have revamped 120 of its rooms, for a bill amounting to €150 million.

According to the hotel's general manager, Alessandro Cresta, "This is clearly a rebirth which is currently ongoing at the Martinez, driven by Hyatt Hotels Corporation as well as its owner, Constellation Hotels Holdings Ltd. It is really critical to set up a renovation plan which maintains the 'art déco' style of this mythical place. The Pierre-Yves Rochon agency is working bearing that in mind, with the aim of creating harmony and consistency throughout the architecture and outdoor areas."

Active since 2013 under the Grand Hyatt label, the Martinez hotel has not yet finished its renovation works, which will keep on going until spring 2018. On a side note, on January the 1st, 2016, Hyatt Hotels Corporation was ranked 12th among the international hotel groups with 605 properties and some 161 737 available rooms, according to data published by Hospitality ON.
