Moscow is attracting more and more French visitors

2017, a record year for welcoming French visitors to Moscow.

In 2017, Moscow received more than 130,000 French people, an increase of 33% compared to 2016. In detail: 40% went there for business trips, the same percentage as tourists and 20% for private visits.

The five main source markets for the capital are: China, France, Germany, Netherlands, United States.

China and other Asian markets are expanding rapidly in Russia.The federation is developing its diplomatic relations with some countries that have not sanctioned it following the incidents in Crimea and the Ukraine. Free electronic visas were created in recent years to provide tourists from China, Japan, India, Iran and other countries with the opportunity to visit three regions in the Russian Far East (Primorye, Sakhalin and Kamchatka).

The capital has modernised its transport and strongly developed its hotel supply. Thus, it has tripled its number of rooms in 15 years, from 65,532 in 2002 to 180,469 in 2017.
