Marriott accelerates growth of its luxury supply

The American group has announced its ambitions to deploy its 8 upscale brands in 2019.

While Marriott dominates the 2018 ranking of global hotel groups with its 1.2 million rooms, the American intends to maintain this position through the development of the luxury segment. For 2019, the group has announced plans to open 30 new properties.

"Our eight luxury brands offer diverse and unique experiences to suit all traveler profiles, whether it's staying at the best address in the city, fully immersed in the destination, or focusing on their well-being," says Tina Edmundson, Global Brand Officer and Luxury Porfolio Leader, Marriott International. "From the most iconic destinations to the most secret places, our mission is to promote travel through different experiences according to our brands that define the future of luxury by allowing our customers to express and experience their passions.“

Why is experience the new luxury?

When ranking luxury brands, Hospitality ON revealed the pipeline for each one. JW Marriott has the largest with nearly 16,000 rooms, followed by W with more than 7,700 rooms, with The Luxury Collection at 4,500 rooms behind it.
