Los Angeles, Century Plaza Hotel to reopen under Fairmont

The Los Angeles iconic property that is currently undergoing renovation will reopen in 2018, and be operated under the upscale brand Fairmont Hotels & Resorts of the group AccorHotels.

Built in 1966, the property is in the Century City district, at the intersection of Avenue of the Stars and Constellation Boulevard. This neighborhood was also the location of old studios and 20th Century Fox (for outdoor scenes). The renovation and mixed development project for Century Plaza Hotel is estimated at 2.5 billion dollars. It is being done in a partnership with Woodridge Capital Partners, a long-term partner that also participated in the development of the Fairmont San Francisco and the Fairmont Orchid, in Hawaii. It also includes the renovation of the reception area, and the creation of spaces that open onto all the Japanese gardens and fountains. The complex will have 394 rooms and 63 private residences. Two 46-floor towers wert also created with 290 keys and a selection of boutiques.

By signing this management contract the French hotel group expands its footprint on America's upscale range. This operation is further to the takeover of the brand Fairmont Hotels by the operateur by 2016. The group's luxury and upscale segment includes Raffles, Fairmont, Sofitel, MGallery and Pullman, for a total of 645 properties and 165,000 rooms, it is the third operator worldwide on this segment.

Fairmont Hotels & Resorts has a portfolio of 65 hotels worldwide. As of January 1, 2016, AccorHotels was sixth group in the worldwide ranking of hotel groups with 3,995 properties for a total of close to 554,508 rooms, according to data published by Hospitality ON.
