IHG signs for two hotels in Scotland

The group expects to develop the brands Crowne Plaza and Holiday Inn Express near Aberdeen International Airport.

InterContinental Hotels Group announced the signature of a long-term contract with Dominvs Group to develop of two new hotels in Scotland. Operated under the brands Crowne Plaza and Holiday Inn Express through a franchise contract, the two properties will be new constructions built near Aberdeen International Airport.

The Crowne Plaza Aberdeen Airport should thus open its doors in 2016, with 165 rooms, a restaurant, a bar and meeting spaces. The Holiday Inn Express Aberdeen Airport is scheduled to open in 2015 and its capacity will be 193 rooms. 

On January 1, 2014, InterContinental Hotels Group continues to be the first hotel group worldwide in terms of number of rooms, according to the ranking realized each year by MKG Hospitality, the hospitality consulting firm founded by Georges Panayotis. It had some 4,700 properties for close to 690,000 rooms worldwide. (Read our report)
