IHG reaches milestone in Germany with 100 hotels

InterContinental Hotels Group announces that it now has over 100 hotels that have been signed or opened in the country.

With 65 hotels operating in Germany and 35 further properties in the pipeline due to open in the next three to five years, the third largest hotel group worldwide in terms of number of rooms is set to reach another milestone. The operator's portfolio has been expanding steadily across the country, especially through multiple development agreements. IHG also announced the upcoming opening of the Holiday Inn Express Munich City - West (302 rooms), a property owned by UBM Development AG. The property will be among the first to feature the group's "Next Generation" concept, centered on technology and design led spaces and innovations.

Angela Brav, CEO, Europe, IHG, commented: "Reaching 100 hotels open or signed in Germany is an important milestone for IHG. This has been a great year for growth for IHG across Europe, and we've seen particular success in Germany, one of our key markets. We are particularly proud to be bringing our Holiday Inn Express Next Generation design to Germany. We're looking forward to rolling out more Next Generation hotels across Germany and the rest of Europe."

Further properties in the pipeline include the Holiday Inn Düsseldorf City Toulouser All (209 rooms, slated for November 2016) and the Holiday Inn Düsseldorf - Hafen (160 rooms). As of January 2016, IHG ranked as the third hotel group worldwide in terms of number of rooms with 5,032 properties totaling 744,368 rooms, according to data published by Hospitality ON.
