IHG expands to Shanghai

InterContinental Hotel Group has just opened its fifth unit in Shanghai. The InterContinental Shanghai NECC (National Exhibition and Convention Center) is the first hotel within the National Exhibition and Convention Center in Shanghai.

IHG has decided to develop the InterContinental Shanghai NECC in the Business district of Hongqiao, to the west of the megalopolis. This 10-floor hotel, offers 536 rooms and suites, four restaurants as well as a seminar space of more than 2,000 m². The property has direct access to the Conference Center.

It is the 38th unit operated by the group in the country and fifth in Shanghai. IHG already has the following properties in its Shanghai portfolio: InterContinental Shanghai Pudong (398 rooms), InterContinental Shanghai Expo (400 rooms), InterContinental Shanghai Puxi (533 rooms) and InterContinental Shanghai Ruijin (238 rooms). As of January 1, 2016, IHG ranked third in the global ranking of hotel groups, with a portfolio of 5,032 properties for a total of close to 744,368 rooms according to data published by Hospitality ON.
