Hyatt Hotels Corporation announces the development of its first Hyatt Place hotel in Urayasu, Tokyo Bay, Japan. It is expected to open in 2019.
Hyatt Hotels Corporation has just signed a partnership with Tokyo Bay Resort Development Co, a subsidiary of Sogo Development Co, to open the very first hotel under the Hyatt Place brand in Japan. Hyatt Place Tokyo Bay will be located in Urayasu City, in the province of Chiba, east of Tokyo. The 10-storey building will have 365 rooms, including two suites, as well as a seminar room, a restaurant and a fitness room.
The hotel is expected to open in 2019; this project participates in the growth strategy of the Hyatt Place brand, which wishes to develop its portfolio in key locations in the country. Hyatt Place has a portfolio of 270 establishments in operation and / or in development in Europe, Asia and Latin America.
In Asia, another facility under the Hyatt Place brand is in development in Malaysia (Hyatt Place Melaka Gateaway), which is also expected to open in 2019 (it will include 200 rooms). On the first of January 2016, Hyatt Hotels Corporation ranked as the 12th largest hotel operator in terms of number of rooms, with 605 locations for a total of 161,737 rooms, according to data published by Hospitality ON.
