Fosun Internatioanl announces the development in collaboration with a consortium from Abu Dhabi of a mega resort located in Hellenikon, a southwest suburb of Athens. The investment amounts to $7.9 billion.

Fosun International, Club Med’s owner, invested $7.9 billion in the construction of a mega resort in Greece, in the coastal town of Hellenikon. Developed in collaboration with companies based in Abu Dhabi, it will be located on former Athens International Airport site, a national asset put up for sale by the government to support the country's economy. Once completed, it will be the largest seaside resort in Europe (3 times the size of Monaco) and include apartments, hotels, shopping centers and a sport park. Renovation work will start in 6 months' time.

The Chinese conglomerate founded in 1992 by students from the Shanghai Fudan University has been Club Med’s owner since 2015.
