Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group plans to triple its number of hotels in China

Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group currently operates the Radisson Blu and Park Plaza brands in China, with 14 hotels currently in operation and 28 hotels in development. The company is also working to seize opportunities in emerging cities including Dalian, Nanjing and Sanya, Shenzhen, Xiamen and Xi’an.

Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group announced plans to triple its number of hotels to over 50 in the next four years. "In addition to the 50 hotels we plan to have in operation by 2019, we are moving forward aggressively to grow our presence and expand our pipeline in China further to deliver an even stronger growth trajectory," said Thorsten Kirschke, president, Asia Pacific, Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group.

Carlson Rezidor has strong representation in key markets and secondary cities in China, including 14 hotels currently in operation and a growing pipeline. Carlson Rezidor plans to increase its presence in China in top-tier cities, strengthen its focus on development opportunities in emerging markets and introduce two new brands, Quorvus Collection, a curated set of luxury hotels and Radisson Red, an upscale lifestyle select brand that appeals to the millennial minded traveler.

Carlson Rezidor signed the first hotel for the Radisson Red brand in late 2014 - Radisson Red Shenyang Hunnan, which is scheduled to open in 2016. In addition, the group will introduce the Park Inn by Radisson brand to China, with the signing of the 200-room Park Inn by Radisson Libo in the Guizhou province. The hotel is scheduled to open in the second quarter of 2016.

Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group currently operates the Radisson Blu and Park Plaza brands in China, in key cities such as Beijing and Shanghai, as well as secondary cities including Chongqing, Kashgar, Liuzhou, Tianjin and Wuxi with 14 hotels currently in operation and 28 hotels in development. The company is also working to seize opportunities in emerging cities including Dalian, Nanjing and Sanya, Shenzhen, Xiamen and Xi'an.

On January 1, 2015, Carlson Rezidor was the thirteenth hotel group in the global ranking in terms of number of rooms with 172,234 units in 1092 properties according to MKG Hospitality, consulting firm founded by Georges Panayotis. (read our article)
