Carlson Rezidor has presented five new projects for hotel development on markets that are growing: Serbia, Georgia, Turkey, Gabon and Saudi Arabia.
Focus on Eastern Europe and the Caucasus
After the Radisson Blu Old Mill in Belgrade announced in December, the group is aiming to open Park Inn by Radisson Tori in Tbilisi, the capital of Georgia. Carlson Rezidor developed this project in a partnership with the group Block Geo. Scheduled for the third quarter 2015, this will be its sixth property in the country and second in the capital. It will have 180 rooms, a 240 m² restaurant, a 120 m² lobby-bar lounge and a 215 m² meeting room. It will be located next to the main commercial street in Tbilisi, 5 km from the Convention and Exhibition Center and 14 km from the international airport.
Also in the Caucasus, but this time in Turkey, the Park Inn by Radisson Ankara will open its doors in the second quarter 2015. The hotel will have 112 rooms, a 24 hour restaurant, a bar, a 1280 m² meeting and events room, a spa, a gym and a swimming pool. It will be located in the Embassy neighborhood of Cankaya.
Renovation of a hotel in Africa and ongoing development in the Middle East
Already open, the Park Inn by Radisson Libreville (Gabon) is the result of the renovation of a 40 year old hotel. Located a few meters from the Atlantic Ocean in the "Petit Paris" neighborhood, it has 140 rooms. The group currently has more than 50 hotels either operating or in the pipeline, representing some 11,500 rooms.
The Radisson Blu Riyad International Convention & Exhibition Center will open its doors in the Saudi Arabian capital in 2017. The 200-room upscale property will be outfitted with a 200 m² restaurant open all day long, a café, a salon, a lounge area, an indoor swimming pool and a fitness center. 1,075 m² will be dedicated to meeting rooms. The hotel groups currently has a portfolio of 23 hotels and 4,200 rooms in operation and in the pipeline in the country, eight of which are located in the city of Riyad.
On January 1, 2014 Carlson Rezidor group was the second hotel group worldwide in terms of number of rooms with 168,927 units in 1,079 hotels (data from MKG Hospitality, consulting firm founded by Georges Panayotis). (Read our report)
