Aloft Hotels settles in Mauritius

Aloft Hotels, from Marriott International group, has announced the opening of a hotel in Mauritius, in a former 9-storey office building. The new property will open in 2019.

Marriott International has just announced the opening of a new facility operated under its Aloft Hotels brand in Mauritius, and signs its first adaptive re-use project in Africa.

Located in the capital city of Saint Louis, in the business district and close to the city center, Aloft Mauritius Port Louis is set in a former 9-storey office building and will offer 150 rooms. It will also include a fitness center, two meeting spaces and a bar and a pool with panoramic view. The brand, which aims at being at the forefront of technology, will provide a keyless entry system allowing customers to open their room using their smartphone or their connected watch.

Marriott International group already operates three hotels in Mauritius under the St Regis, Le Méridien and Westin brands. A Sheraton hotel is currently under development. As of January 1, 2016, Aloft Hotels ranked 108th largest hotel chain in the world, with 104 properties and 17,357 rooms, according to data published by Hospitality ON.
