
The Westin Hotels & Resorts brand will be entering Qatar after the signing of an agreement between Starwood Hotels & Resorts and owner Ghanem Al Thani Holdings. Located in Doha's business district, the hotel is 15 minutes from Doha International Airport, and near popular sites such as the Museum of Islamic Art, Education City and the Al Mushreib Doja rejuvenation project."In recent years, Qatar has increasingly positioned itself as a business, transit and diplomatic hub on the global tourism map, with a rising number of trade events, exhibitions and upcoming sporting events fueling its growth. The time is right to strengthen our presence in the country with the new Westin Doha Hotel & Spa, further underscoring our commitment to growing in this part of the world", explains Michael Wale, President, Starwood Hotels & Resorts, Europe, Africa and Middle East.The Westin Doha Hotel & Spa will feature 365 guestrooms, including 92 executive rooms, five private bungalows and two presidential suites; five dining venues; nearly 2,900 square meters of event space including a ballroom, 10 meeting rooms, and a business center. The Heavenly Spa by Westin offers ten treatment rooms, three pools and a fitness center.The establishment is scheduled to open in late 2014.
