The hotel group is developing its network in the United States with the conversion of a two-building complex into two hotels under its Sheraton and Le Méridien brands in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide has announced that through a $20 million conversion and renovation, it will transform the current two-tower Blake Hotel in Charlotte), the United States, to a Sheraton and Le Méridien complex."This strategic conversion project gives Starwood the opportunity to both debut Le Méridien and expand the Sheraton portfolio in Charlotte, the second largest banking center in the United States after New York City", says Senior Vice President of North American Development Allison Reid.The first of these developments, the Sheraton Charlotte Hotel (306 rooms), will open August 15th of this year. Le Méridien Charlotte (305 rooms) will open in January 2014, after rennovations allow for independent operation. The two establishments will however share a 24-hour fitness center, spa, indoor and outdoor pools and pool bar, underground parking, and 5,110 square meters of meetings space.
