
The hotel group's growing portfolio in India now includes the Holiday Inn Amritsar Ranjit Avenue (145 rooms) in Amritsar's premier commercial district of Ranjit Avenue. The hotel is positioned to capitalize on both leisure and religious travel, as located near the Golden Temple.According to Douglas Martell, Vice President Operations South West Asia, IHG, "Both religious and leisure tourism in Amritsar is booming and demand for hotels has never been higher". Kunal Shankar, General Manager, Holiday Inn Amritsar Ranjit Avenue reflects this sentiment, noting that "Amritsar is already one of India's most popular religious tourist destinations and we look forward to catering to the demand for an international hotel brand".IHG has a total Indian portfolio of 15 establishments across 10 cities, including seven Holiday Inn hotels and Resorts, five Crowne Plaza hotels, one Holiday Inn Express hotel and one InterContinental hotel. Holiday Inn and Holiday Inn Express hotels make up the greater part of IHG's pipeline in the country, with 25 Holiday Inn hotels and 16 Holiday Inn Express hotels due to open over the next three to five years.
