Antirion SGR, an independent asset management company, has assigned Rosewood Hotels & Resorts the management of Rosewood Roma, due to open in 2023 in the heart of the capital. The new hotel, located in the former headquarters of Banca Nazionale di Lavoro (BNL) and overlooking the iconic Via Veneto, will offer privileged access to many of the Eternal City's unique attractions, elegant shops and dining destinations.

Rosewood Roma will expand an entire city block and include three historic buildings, each built in the early 1900s. At the heart of the project is the reinterpretation of the former BNL headquarters, the main unit of the complex originally conceived by the renowned Italian architect and urban planner Marcello Piacentini. The transformation of the property, which will enhance Piacentini's legacy and pay homage to the property's roots as an example of Italian modernist architecture, will be managed by Colliers International, which will coordinate the entire redevelopment process, under the guidance and coordination of Jacobs, an integrated architecture and engineering company, and Australian interior design firm BAR Studio.

The design will be characterised by the hotel's location on Via Veneto, one of Rome's most elegant streets and the symbol of Federico Fellini's famous film "La Dolce Vita» and will feature elegant interiors influenced by Rome's enchanting atmosphere, combining traditional architectural elements with modern furnishings and details to create a sophisticated environment where guests can enjoy their leisure time to the fullest.

Over the past few years we have been busy looking for new opportunities to expand our European presence and allow the Rosewood brand to reach new destinations on the continent”, said Sonia Cheng, CEO of Rosewood Hotel Group. “Rome, one of Italy's most vibrant cities, with an undoubtedly rich heritage and fascinating character, has long been high on the list of priority destinations to carry the Rosewood Group flag. We are thrilled to be working with our partner Antirion SGR on this project, which we are confident will set a new standard for luxury lifestyle experiences in the capital.

Upon completion of the project, Rosewood Roma will offer 157 rooms, including 44 suites, and three dining venues, including a contemporary Italian bistro, lobby bar with café, and rooftop bar with terrace overlooking the city. Among the services that will be offered: an underground experience in modern Roman baths located inside the bank's original vault, and a spa located on the rooftop of the hotel, featuring four dedicated treatment rooms and a wellness terrace with a mirrored pool and fitness centre. Dedicated event spaces will include three meeting rooms and a large boardroom.

Rosewood Roma will be the brand's fourth property in Italy, joining Rosewood Castiglion del Bosco in Tuscany and the upcoming Rosewood Porto Cervo and Rosewood Venezia, with openings scheduled for 2022 and 2023 respectively. The Rosewood Group currently has a presence in Europe with Rosewood London and Hôtel de Crillon - A Rosewood Hotel in Paris. The brand’s current global expansion pipeline includes eleven projects in Europe, including high-profile projects in the UK, Germany, Austria, Spain and the Netherlands.
