RIU reopens in Cabo Verde, in Isla de Sal, inaugurating its new hotel Riu Palace Santa Maria. The 5-star property debuts in the destination, forming a hotel complex together with the Riu Cabo Verde and Riu Funana. The three properties, which are connected to each other, have direct access to the beach.
The Riu Palace Santa Maria hotel, located on the beachfront, has a Splash Water World. This space will be located in the inner part of the hotel along with a water playground and the RiuLand club for the little ones, as well as a bar.
The Riu Palace Santa Maria hotel has a total of 1,001 rooms distributed in six blocks. The design is inspired by nature, and the decorative elements are in ethnic style.
Following the ethnic line as a feature of the hotel's brand, all the blocks have an entrance portico presided by a 12-meter-high mask, each of them different from each other to facilitate their identification to the clients.
Another peculiarity of this hotel is that its main façade is covered by a natural limestone from Isla de Sal, making a new tribute to the Cabo Verdean culture and nature.
Distributed between the main building and next to the Splash area, the hotel has a total of five restaurants and seven bars.
In its outdoor area there are a total of eight swimming pools, six of which are located in front of the beach, joined by a large solarium with a multitude of corners for relaxation and areas for sports activities. The other two are in the area shared by the three hotels, one of them belonging to Splash Water World and the other to the new RiuLand, with games and water jets for the little ones.
The opening of the Riu Palace Santa Maria is aimed at reactivating this destination, which has been at a standstill for months due to the crisis caused by COVID-19. The reopening is made possible thanks to the scheduling of TUI Poland, which has been operating two flights a week since March 14. With this new hotel, RIU adds six establishments to its portfolio in Cabo Verde, with three on Isla de Sal and another three on Isla de Boa Vista.
