Whitbread signed an agreement with Artisan Real Estate to open two Premier Inn establishments in Edinburgh. This expansion should increase the brand portfolio by 257 guestrooms. Both hotels will be part of the £150 million Caltongate mixed-use development Edinburgh's Royal Mile.Lukas Nakos, Artisan's managing director, calls the provision of high quality hotels a "cornerstone" of the project, going on to emphasize design quality to reflect the historic setting of the hotels. Thus, these new properties will debut the new Hub by Premier Inn concept outside of London.
