
The owner of Zurich airport, Flughafen Zürich AG, will debut a development project in Zurich incorporating the hospitality industry.
A series of buildings stacked into each other into a crescent shape will be part of a 37,000 m² complex consisting of: a shopping zone with 60 stores, a business and conference centre, two hotels (one luxury and one budget) and apartments. The living quarters will total 500 guestrooms and apartments.At one tip of the crescent, there will be an exposition centre, and at the other end, one will find the luxury hotel.This project will carry a pricetag worth a billion Swiss france (810 lillion euros) split over four years. Construction of "The River" will begin in 2012, headed by Zaha Hadid Architect. There will be much open space because the building is divided around "canyons" that serve as a frontier of the complex's different zones with open walkways that connect the different zones.At one tip of the crescent, there will be an exposition centre, and at the other end, one will find the luxury hotel.
