Morgans Hotel Group has secured a location in London for their Mondrian brand.
Morgans Hotel Group Co. announced on Thursday that it has signed a 25-year management contract for the Sea Containers office building (pictured above) in London. The Sea Containers building used to house the British Headquarters of Sea Containers Ltd.Morgans is already manager of two London 5-star hotels: St. Martins Lane Hotel and Sanderson Hotel.Morgans is going to invest $15 million in the project. The building, which originally opened in the 1980's, was actually conceived to be a hotel, but became an office building because of its prime location in the business district. Its 360 guestrooms are set to open in 2014 as the first Mondrian branded hotel in Europe.The 38,270 sq m real estate will be mixed-use, including 280,000 sq ft (26,000 sq m) of office space. The Light Group has conceived a rooftop bar for the hotel.Morgans is already manager of two London 5-star hotels: St. Martins Lane Hotel and Sanderson Hotel.
