Melia Hotels International plans China hotel

Meliá Hotels International announced that it will open the Meliá Chongquing in 2015.

The hotel chain, which says growth in emerging markets a key priority, will open Meliá Chongqing in 2015.Vice chairman and chief executive officer of Meliá Hotels International Gabriel Escarrer said: "We will continue to advance in the coming years in positioning its brands in China, to become one of the tourist development leaders in this gigantic market and strengthen its leadership position among the major international hotel chains, in parallel with the consolidation of other world-class destinations such as Spain or the Caribbean."The new Meliá Chongqing will join the company's current portfolio of the Gran Meliá Shanghai (pictured above), open since 2009, and the Gran Meliá Xian, whose opening is scheduled for 2013.
