Just days apart from opening the Melià Nassau Beach Resort, the group's first establishment in the Bahamas, it has announced a contract to operate an establishment in Jamaica.Gabriel Escarrer, Chairman of Melià Hotels International, and Jamaica's Ministers of Tourism Wykeham McNeil and Derrick Kellier have formalized a contract entrusting Melià to operate the 226-room flagship resort currently known as Braco Village Hotel & Spa. The hotel is owned by the country's National Insurance Fund, which selected Melià as the operator after a highly competitive process.According to Escarrer, "Jamaica is a long awaited destination for Melià Hotels International; the English-speaking Caribbean is a major focus in our global expansion strategy". "Melià is an international leader and benchmark in the resort segment, expanding its footprint to all major vacation destinations, both inland and on islands in the English-speaking Caribbean", he concludes.
