The 154-room Courtyard by Marriott Cornbrook Manchester, which will be operated by Bricks Group, will be part of a newbuild development that also includes an 88-key aparthotel.
Courtyard by Marriott Cornbrook Manchester will be the name of the 154-room hotel.
A Marriott International spokeswoman said, “Marriott International is delighted to be working with Bricks Group to bring the Courtyard by Marriott brand to Manchester.”
The hotel, which will be run by Bricks Group, is set to open in 2024 and will be the city's first Courtyard.
The hotel will join the AC Hotel Manchester City Centre, Manchester Marriott Victoria & Albert Hotel, AC Hotel Manchester Salford Quays, Manchester Airport Marriott Hotel, and Moxy Manchester City Centre as the sixth Marriott property in Manchester.
This reserved matters application is a follow-up to a previous plan, which was approved in July 2018 and sought full permission to develop 280 flats over two buildings, as well as outline approval for a nearby 154-bed hotel and 88-bed aparthotel. The £70 million residential project, known as Vox and developed by Glenbrook, was finished in early 2021.
Leach Rhodes Walker (hotel and masterplan architect), Sheppard Robson (residential architect) and How Planning (planning consultant) all contributed to the mixed-use project.
“The vision for the hotel and aparthotel is to create a landmark gateway building on the main arterial route from the south into Manchester,” said an accompanying design and access statement prepared by Leach Rhodes Walker and Sheppard Robson. “The simplicity of the building design will form a key marker on the southern entrance to the city of Manchester.”
