The 214-room Domes of Corfu, located on Glyfada beach on the west side of Corfu island, will become part of Marriott's Autograph Collection Hotels.
The luxury Domes of Corfu, formerly the Grand Hotel of Corfu, will join Autograph Collection Hotels' diverse portfolio of independent hotels around the world, following an agreement between Marriott International Hotels Group and Hotel Investment Partners (HIP), the owner of resort hotels in Southern Europe owned by Blackstone Real Estate Funds.
Nearly €14 million will be invested by HIP and Blackstone to modernise and transform the property, which will continue to be operated under the Greek luxury brand Domes Resorts, owned by Greek hotel group Ledra Hotels & Villas.
Alejandro Hernández-Puértolas, CEO and founding partner of HIP, declares:
This agreement further confirms our commitment to actively reposition, invest and transform our Greek portfolio, supporting Greece to maintain its rightful place as a premier global tourist destination, create jobs and spur local economic growth.
The family-friendly resort, located on Glyfada beach, will have 218 rooms and will be operational in the summer of 2021. Plans to renovate the resort include the refurbishment of all public areas and rooms.
"The addition of Domes of Corfu to Autograph Collection, is the best possible beginning for our strategic cooperation with HIP. Domes of Corfu is the 5th beach property of Domes Resorts operated under Marriott brands, which confirms our dynamic collaboration with Marriott International," said Domes Resorts CEO Dr. George Spanos.
For his part, Satya Anand, president of Marriott International for Europe, Middle East and Africa, said he was confident that the Domes Corfu will be one of Greece’s leading leisure resorts thanks to the combination of Corfu's natural beauty and the boutique hotel style of the Autograph Collection.
