IHG strengthens Caribbean network

InterContinental Hotels Group is developing in the Caribbean via a management contract with owners Real Hotels & Resorts, the hotel branch of Salvadorian-based Grupo Poma who will invest $70 million in the project. This is the eighth project between the two groups, marking a solid relationship in the region."There is significant demand for upscale internationally-branded properties in Santo Domingo, and we look forward to bringing the InterContinental brand to life in this city", says Joel Eisemann, Chief Development Officer, IHG, the Americas. "The Dominican Republic is a popular tourist and business destination, making this an ideal location to add a new InterContinental Hotels & Resorts property", he continues.The Real InterContinental Santo Domingo Hotel should open with 225 guestrooms in the Dominican Republic in 2015.
