The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Companys L.L.C. has announced the brand’s first hotel in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam’s largest city.
The 250-room hotel is located in the center of the city, across the Ben Thanh Square market, in a 48-storey tower. It forms part of a US$500 million project called The One Ho Chi Minh City, a pair of twin towers which will also host prime office spaces, retail outlets and 350 apartments. The project was designed by US architect Bernardo Fort-Brescia of Arquitectonica Architects, who claims to have drawn inspiration from the legendary dragon, using the towers to represent two dragons rising from the ground with their tails coiled and pearls dangling from their mouths. The move marks the group’s expansion in Asia. The hotel is set to open in 2015.The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company currently operates 78 hotels in the Americas, Europe, Asia, the Middle East, Africa, and the Caribbean. New openings scheduled for this year include The Ritz-Carlton, Vienna and The Ritz-Carlton, Tianjin.
