Hotel Country Inns & Suites by Carlson in Springfield, Illinois (United States), which opened in November 2013 with 78 rooms and suites, has become the first establishment of the brand under a new concept. The new brand image includes updated exterior architecture, modern interiors, a hub space, and large guestrooms and suites with spa-like bathrooms. The redesign comes from a need to attract the younger generation; but also seeks to satisfy new expectations of its customer base. Scott Meyer, senior vice president, Midscale Brands, Americas, Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group, assures that the brand will be "fiercely maintaining our service culture and amenities that have built our strong, loyal customer base"."We are looking to the future and are making thoughtful changes that will allow us to grow our brand", he explains. In addition to appealing to a younger clientele, Meyer also maintains that the new contemporary design of the brand's 470 hotels will boost MICE business with its new focus on technology.
