
Starwood Hotels & resorts is expanding its Aloft brand in China, with its sixth brand property in the country. The latest announcement is for an opening in Dalian, nicknamed "Hong Kong of the North" for its importance as a financial center.According to Charlie Dang, Regional Vice President of Operations for Greater China for Starwood Hotels & Resorts, Aloft is finding a significant and growing market in China in particular. "As China's tourism market continues to evolve and grow, Chinese travelers are becoming more style-conscious, as well as more digitally and socially connected. They seek not only a room, but also an experience that caters to their lifestyle", he explains.The property is owned by Dalian Yifang Group Co., Ltd., which has a preexisting relationship with Starwood Hotels through its ownership of The Castle Hotel, A Luxury Collection Hotel Dalian. The Aloft Dalian will offer 314 rooms on a major commercial street with easy access to the international airport and tourist attractions, such as beaches.
