Barwa Real Estate announced the 5.5 billion USD development of an artificial island near Doha, Qatar. The project is to include 5 hotels.

Qatar is getting ready to host the 2022 FIFA World Cup by ramping up current hotel projects. Barwa Real Estate, subsidiary of Qatar Investment Authority, has announced that it will invest 5.5 billion dollars in the Oryx Island development.Oryx Island will be an artificial island off the coast of Doha, the country's capital. The project will consist of 5 hotels, which are to either be housed on cruise ships or on land as luxury villas, including a water park.
