Tourism Australia attracts international visitors with immersive 8D videos

Tourism Australia has unveiled a series of videos to transport viewers from around the world to the heart of some of the country's flagship destinations.

Using innovative "8D" audio technology, the six videos take viewers on a sensory journey, immersing them in the sights, sounds and textures of iconic destinations such as Uluru, the Sydney Opera House, Fraser Island and the Daintree rainforest.

8D audio is a sound engineering treatment that, when the viewer wears headphones, gives music and sounds a three-dimensional effect for an immersive experience. This is the first time a tourism organization has used this technology for a video series.

The videos have been categorized by color - blue, red, magenta, green, black and white - to evoke a range of feelings and emotions, to highlight the visual diversity and vitality found in Australia, and to provide inspiration for future holiday projects.

Phillipa Harrison, Managing Director of Tourism Australia, said:

Many people have had to put their travel plans on hold this year, but it is reassuring to see that the demand for Australian holiday experiences has not diminished, with many still dreaming of travelling here in the future.

While current border restrictions prevent international travelers from travelling to Australia at the moment, we must continue to keep Australia in mind with bold and engaging initiatives, and remind them of the great experiences that await them when they are able to travel here again.
