No more tourists in UK?

Not a single traveller is allowed to come to the UK without respecting first a 14 days quarantine. A really bad signal for tourists who chose other detsinations this summer. How are the destinations coping with this obligations ?

Fortunatly for them, the usual firts choices for British tourists in summer were also hard to reach. Few adventurers reached France by car, other tried to stay in Spain but most of the british residents had to stay in the UK this summer.

According to the World Travel & Tourism Council, international visitors are expected to drop by -78% compared to 2019. Regarding hotel performances, UK is the most impacted destination with a -84.6% in RevPAR in July with a 22.4% OR performing worst of the whole European panel.

Tourism professionnals had the opportunity to develop staycation to capture their domestic market. Visit England launched a domestic marketing campaing Escape the Everyday investing £5 million to "inspire consumers to travel and enjoy the country’s amazing tourism offer from this autumn".

The domestic market usually represents £91.6 billion spendings. So far, it brought a £9 billion to the British economy.

Beside the damages caused to UK tourism entrepreneurs and airlines, summer resorts destinations have been hit badly in July and August. Spain and Greece among the first ones.
