Hard Rock Hotels Mexico has secured the services of EarthCheck the world's leading certifier of travel and tourism organisations.Widely acknowledged as one of the leading brands in the Americas, Hard Rock Hotels Mexico has joined an elite group of industry leaders who, over a period of 10 years, have consistently demonstrated their commitment to their local communities with the highest standards of environmental management. To gain EarthCheck certification, Hard Rock Resorts will be required to report their environmental footprint and adhere to an internationally recognized standard of best practice."Environmental sustainability is part of our corporate commitment to responsible business," said Mr. Dirk Oliver Urban, Operation's Director of Hard Rock Hotels Mexico. "While some of our resorts have already embarked on the EarthCheck Program, plans are well underway to ensure that nearly all our resorts become third-party certified by the end of this year, and that as a group, we take proactive measures to minimise our carbon footprint."Hard Rock Hotels Mexico is focusing on issues such as reducing, recycling and reusing solid waste; reducing the use of harmful chemicals; conserving energy and water, and improving indoor air quality, all of which have an immediate impact on the environment and the communities where Hard Rock Hotels Mexico operate."At Hard Rock Hotels Mexico, the desire was to partner with a top sustainable travel program that was not only credible and well established internationally, but one that would also help raise awareness and action among staff and guests," continued Mr. Urban, "With an increasing number of guests giving priority to eco-friendly travel, the EarthCheck Program also presents us with another avenue to strengthen customer loyalty."EarthCheck is considered at the forefront of international sustainability management systems, using advanced certification and benchmarking solutions. The program offers a new level of accuracy and transparency with certification verified by independent auditors."Having already certified and benchmarked more than 1,300 organisations in over 70 countries, EC3 Global is highly regarded for its science-based approach," explained Stewart Moore, CEO of EC3 Global. "There are no short cuts, no ways to buy your way in; it's a matter of being able to prove the integrity of an organisation's operational practices year-in and year-out, and then be willing to have everything verified by an independent, third party auditor. By taking a scientific approach to measuring the effectiveness of their sustainability practices, Hard Rock Hotels Mexico will be able to identify where they are out-performing other operators and where room for improvement remains."
