SummaryCarlson Rezidor Hotel Group understands the affect our hotels have on the success of local communities and the affect communities have on the success of our hotels; and we are dedicated to sustaining and improving those communities.World Cleanup 2012 and Carlson Rezidor agreed that there are millions of tons of illegal garbage around the world and we must ali come together in arder to create real global change.Carlson Rezidor became the exclusive hospitality partner of World Cleanup 2012 providing support of 2011 planning initiatives and most importantly, becoming deeply involved in its mission.ln 2012, from March 24 - September 25, World Cleanup 2012 inspired a series of cleanups which swept over the globe, touching ali continents and bringing together millions of people cleaning up their homelands.As one of the world's largest hotel companies, Carlson Rezidor knew it could make an impact in support of the overall mission of World Cleanup 2012 to rid the world of illegal garbage while positively impacting those communities in which we operate.More than 100 countries organized official World Cleanup 2012 cleanup events; however many locations in which Carlson Rezidor hotels operate did not have official cleanups.Carlson Rezidor enlisted the help of our global brands, leveraging our global footprint and extensive human resources to essentially become our own global country.Nearly 2,000 employees from 33 countries participated in local cleanups.Together teams collected 134,519 litres waste, sorne of which was then recycled.The final results video, showcasing cleanup events from around the globe, was created for employees to strengthen the idea that local efforts make a difference in the global community; and that each Carlson Rezidor hotel is a part of that larger community.Carlson Rezidor hotels continue to organize local cleanups as a part of the World Cleanup 2012_ Please tell us why do you think you should win?Carlson Rezidor's partnership initiative with World Cleanup 2012 demonstrates our commitment to local populations, our staff, and tourist destinations. The project was designed to link our staff to the local community and to encourage ongoing sustainability efforts.Taking an innovative, partnership approach to sustainability united the staff, not only with each other and their local communities; but also with the greater global community. Together, 2,000 staff positively affected 88 communities in 33 countries, and rid the world of nearly 135,000 litres of illegal waste...and the efforts continue!
