Summary _ Always looking for its guests’ best comfort, Accor regularly revamps its hotels. Consequently, renovations generate stocks of furniture in good conditions, no longer needed by the hotels._ So far, no centralized solution was provided: the hotels themselves experimented with a variety of options to sell their second-hand furniture and minimize their waste._ To offer its hotels a highly efficient solution to dispose of their old furniture after renovations, Accor launched the reBorn project, which gathers hotels’ best practices and adds a very innovative new channel: an e-shop on eBay.fr, the Internet’s worldwide auction leader. The Group’s hotels can now put up for sale the furniture and decorating accessories in good condition that they wish to dispose of on http://stores.ebay.fr/Accor-hotels. This new sale channel is an extraordinary opportunity to allow Accor hotels’ furniture offer to meet demand._ On the reBorn e-shop, visitors can browse by brand or product family: indoor furniture, decorating accessories, outdoor furniture. All items are rigorously selected according to their quality and condition, with the assessment of independent experts._ For reBorn, Accor has set up a whole complex logistical process from scratch with expert partners to guarantee hotels & final consumers satisfaction._ For the inauguration in February, nearly 2,500 items were put in sales on the online store from three upscale Paris hotels: Sofitel Arc de Triomphe, Sofitel le Faubourg and Pullman La Défense. In July 2012, Accor added more than 1,100 pieces of furniture and other items._ The store will be restocked regularly throughout the year as the Accor hotels are renovated, and the Group aims to keep involving an increasing number of hotels in the whole Group. To this end, a reBorn toolbox has been prepared, gathering all tools to implement the project and allowing further hotels and countries to implement the project._ Please tell us why do you think you should win?_ The Accor sustainable development vision is based on the Triple Bottom line concept: People, Planet, Profit. reBorn is 100% in line with the 3Ps. PEOPLE: reBorn allows to involve teams in sustainability, and above all to make consumers & employees look differently at the value of objects to gradually change their consumption habits. PLANET: Thanks to reBorn, in 3 months 980 pieces of furniture were given a second life, avoiding waste. PROFIT: reBorn cuts saving dumping costs and allows hotel to make benefits on sales. reBorn illustrates what sustainable development is all about: listening to the operating needs of hotels teams and supporting their initiatives to find new original and advantageous business models to build the hotel industry of the future. | | | Movie | (Click on the box below) | | To vote for this candidate, (Click below) | [ ->?vote] | |
