Courtyard by Marriott opens third hotel in Scotland

The brand's new property opened its doors near Glasgow Airport, following its rebranding after extensive renovations.

Previously operated under the Ramada brand, the Courtyard Glasgow Airport offers 114 rooms. Newcastle upon Tyne-based owner Cairn Group has made a multi-million dollar investment in the property's extensive renovation. It plans to add 56 more rooms to the hotel by mid-2017. The address also includes a restaurant, a bar, meeting rooms, and a fitness center.

The Courtyard Glasgow Airport hotel is the brand's third property in Scotland: the Courtyard Aberdeen Airport debuted in 2013, whereas the Courtyard Edinburgh is slated to open next December. Following its merger with Starwood Hotels, Marriott International ranked as the largest hotel group worldwide with 5,640 hotels totaling 1,108,852 rooms as of January 2016, according to data published by Hospitality ON.
